SKIP BIN GUIDE
With eight size to choose from, we’ve got a bin to suit every job
Drawing from our years of experience, we recommend opting for a slightly larger skip bin than you initially think you’ll need. This strategy can save you significant costs in the long run compared to ordering a second bin.

Frequently Asked Questions
Discover answers to your most frequently asked questions about Skip Bins for Hire Sydney services here. If your question isn’t listed or you require additional information, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
What size skip bin do i need?
The size of the skip bin you require will depend on the type and volume of waste you need to dispose of.
To estimate the volume of waste you can multiply the ‘length x width x height’.Â
For example:
1.6 m x 1.8 m x 1.3 m = approx. 3.75 cubic metres (You would choose a 4 Cubic Metre Bin)
You can also estimate the number of wheelbarrow loads needed for your pile of rubbish. Our skip bin guide provides estimates of the number of wheelbarrow loads each bin size can accommodate.
How high can i fill the skip bin?
We only accept skip bins that are filled to the rim, as we cannot collect bins filled above the rim due to safety concerns regarding potential spillage during transport.
Can i book on the day of delivery?
Absolutely! If you book your bin before 10am on weekdays, we can arrange same-day delivery, subject to your location and our delivery schedule for the day.
What type of wastes can i put into the bin?
There are 5 main waste type categories
–Â Â General Waste
–Â Â Mixed Waste
–Â Â Green Waste
–Â Â Recycling (Bricks/Concrete/Sandtone/Roof Tile Only) Waste
–Â Â Soil Dirt
Please refer to the waste type guide above on what type of waste can be placed in each category. If you cannot find your waste type please give us a call on 1300 707 000 or email us at [email protected].
Can you put green waste into a mixed waste bin?

Can i change waste type after ordering a skip bin?
Yes, please give us a call on 1300 707 000 or email us at [email protected].
Do i require a permit for the skip bin?
Private Property
–Â The optimal location for your skip bin is typically within the confines of your property, such as the driveway or front yard.
Public Property
–Â If private placement isn’t feasible, you have the option to place the bin on the nature strip or public road, although this may necessitate a skip bin permit.
- Please check our Council Skip Bin Permit page to see if you require a permit from your local council.
How long can i keep the bin for?

Where can i place the skip bin?
Private Property
–Â Â The best place for your skip bin would be somewhere within the boundaries of your property such as the driveway or frontyard.
Public Property
–Â Â If private placement is not possible you can choose to place the bin on the nature stripe/public road however it may require a permit.
- Please check our Council Permit page to see if you require a permit from your local council.

What is Asbestos and how can i spot it?
Houses constructed before 1985 are likely to contain some form of fibro asbestos sheeting in areas such as bathrooms or eaves. Asbestos is also commonly found in older concrete driveways, roof tiles, corrugated roofing, Telstra pits, and electrical meter boards.
Please see below example images of Asbestos:
If you require further assistance please watch the video below or give us a call on 1300 707 000 or email us at [email protected].
What if all my waste does not fit into the skip bin?
If you’ve filled your bin to its maximum level but still have waste leftover, feel free to give us a call at on 1300 707 000 or email us at [email protected] and arrange to replace your full bin with an empty bin. Please refer to our skip bin size guide above to calculate the remaining rubbish pile.
Will the skip bin damage my driveway or grass?
Generally, unless you’re filling your skip with extremely heavy waste, there shouldn’t be an issue. However, there’s always a risk. To mitigate this risk, we recommend placing 2-3 timber blocks of sufficient length on your driveway or grass where you’d like the skip bin to be placed.
Please note that for soft or damp grass areas, trucks may leave tire impressions and placing the skip bin may cause marks. Our professional drivers will make every effort to take care during placement, but some impressions may occur.
How can i prevent my neighbours filling my skip bin?
While it’s challenging to entirely prevent others from using your skip bin, a few tips can help:
- Fill your skip bin promptly to limit access for others.
- Position it in a location that deters unauthorized use, such as in clear view on private property.
- Cover your skip with a tarp or cover when not in use to discourage unwanted additions.
What is the recommended skip bin size for a standard household cleanup?
Based on our experience, a 4 or 5 cubic meter skip bin is suitable for average household cleanups, while a 6 cubic meter bin is ideal for slightly larger household cleanups. However the right skip bin size can vary from each customer so measuring the volume of your waste will be the most accurate.
Do all skip bins have a door?
All of our skip bins, ranging from 2M to 12M, are equipped with a wheelbarrow access door for easy loading.
How much clearance do you require to deliver the bin?
Please see rough clearances required for our trucks.

If you require assistance or further clarification in relation to clearances required to deliver bins please give us a call on 1300 707 000 or email us at [email protected].
Does someone need to be there during delivery or pickup?
No, this isn’t necessary, but please ensure there is clear access for collecting or dropping off the bin.
What if someone else puts prohibited materials into the skip bin?
Upon receiving the skip bin, you assume full responsibility for the waste placed inside. If any prohibited material is deposited into the bin or it exceeds the rim, you are liable for any fines or additional costs incurred as a result.
